Basco Iberian Ham is sourced from the best Iberico Ham Houses in Spain
Spain has also perfected the art of curing hams, and is the world’s leading producer of Jamon Iberico Hams. The jewel in the crown of its rich ham culture is the Jamon Iberico de Bellota, also known as Pata Negra.
At Basco we only source Iberico ham and charcuterie from reputable, established curing houses such as Ibericos Montanegra located in the town of Nogales in Badajoz and who are members of the Denomination of Origin Dehesa de Extremadura and Ibericos Maldonado, a family business located in Alburquerque who specialise on the breeding of pure Iberian breed pigs which only account for 5 per cent of the total Iberico pigs in Spain.
Ibericos Maldonado also hold the world Guinness record for the most expensive Spanish ham ever sold! Buy Spanish Iberico ham from Basco, you won’t be disappointed.
What is Iberico Ham?
Jamón Ibérico, or Iberico ham, is a type of Iberian cured ham made from black Iberian pigs native to Spain. These pigs are often free-range and finished on a diet of acorns, resulting in the highly prized Iberico Bellota – known for its intense marbling, nutty flavour, and melt-in-the-mouth texture. It’s one of the most luxurious and sought-after Spanish jamon varieties in the world.
